Wynton was blessed to have a family that understood and supported the hard work and dedication it takes to become a professional athlete, while keeping up the academic side of their lives.
“My mom is a former superintendent/principal and my late father always wanted us to succeed in school,” he said. “The values of education were instilled on us at a young age. I pride myself on graduating with honors from Niagara University. I think my brothers’ accomplishments on the school side also have inspired me to become better.”
His oldest brother Mike was a collegiate high jumper who is now a building inspector in New York. His brother Walter played as a defensive back in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, and Seattle Seahawks, and is now a lawyer. His other brother, Wayne, still plays basketball in Europe for the German team Jena.
It was no surprise that Wynton was able to keep up his dedication to baseball while working on a degree in marketing.
